Hi! I'm Jane Whitman

A good time to review

Its Not all Numbers

Hi Reader

Can you believe it .. we're at the end of November! and beginning to prepare ourselves for the holiday season? Only seems like yesterday that I was packing away the decorations and saying that's it for another year - and here we are up in the loft wishing we'd packed them away better!

Since I last spoke I've enjoyed a lovely week off with some well earned ''R n R'', although it wasn't quite what I had in mind when I wrote. In short we where supposed to spend a few days in some sunshine and enjoy the sights & sounds of a new city .... BUT passport issues meant a 48hr dash to to change flights and dates because we couldn't sort the passport in time! So a night on the Suffolk Coast it was instead.

If you do nothing else I encourage you to check yours ( especially if you've not needed to use your passport for a while) . The new post Brexit rule is that passports are valid for no more than 10 years, which I knew but I thought it was for new passports not existing - so if you renewed your passport when you where allowed to carry over those unused 3months, they are know longer valid! & you need SIX months on it to travel to most places in the world.

On the subject of reviews - Now is a good time for a Year-End business review πŸ˜‰β€‹
While on the subject of reviews; Do you do a review of your business? As we fast approach of the end of the calendar year, it is a great time to review and reflect on your business this year. Reflecting on what has gone well or not so well, Reviewing your fees and costs have you kept to a budget, can you make savings for next year, etc.

AREAS TO REVIEW & REFLECT AS YOU PREPARE FOR NEXT YEAR :

1: Future Goal -
are you still on track to achieve, what small changes can you make to the plan to help you get back on track or move you to the next stage.

2: Celebrate your Wins - What went well, what did you do that fills you with joy & pride. Celebrating these wins is a great morale boast and keeps you motivated & focused

3: What didn't go as well as planned - don't be negative or down because something didn't work it's all part of the learning curve of a business owner. Can it be improved? Would it be more efficient to replace it?

4: Income - How much did you have you earned, how close was you to your target? What will be your income goal for the next 12months.

5: Costs - How much have you spend to achieve that income? Have you earned a profit (costs less than income)? Do you need to spend on the same costs next year? Now is a great time to see if you can renew contracts etc for better deals, as well as checking any subscriptions you have on automatic recurring payment to make sure you still need them!

3 Things from this week:

πŸ™ I'm thankful .. that we booked our holiday with a travel agent (first time for a while!) and they were able to help us out with the changes

πŸ“Ί Watching ... Strictly Come Dancing once again I not sure I actually know many of the celebrities but being an avid watcher for all the series I do think they maybe have more of a background in dance than they admit some of no Fiona Phillips or John Sargeant these days! What do you think?

πŸ’Thinking ... a lot this year about how to support small /local business with that I've find some great places on my local high street and a few online. How do you feel about the ever increasing loss of shops from your high street as retailers are tending to favour the online space?

Thanks reading would love to hear your thoughts on what helped or if you would like to know more about how to review your costs and services, drop me an email

Until next time, Jane
