Hi Reader
It appears to be a common theme this year about January being a looong month, but I think Pilot had it nailed when they sang January! and then I set out to find one to celebrate the arrival of February and I feel this sums it up ..
February's Gifts
Poet: Catherine Pulsifer
February comes with a quiet grace,
Winter’s beauty still in place.
Snowy mornings and skies so clear,
A month that whispers, "Spring is near."
Valentine hearts and love to share,
Family bonds and friendships rare.
With violets, primroses, amethyst's hue,
February shines, both old and new.
And so with the new year no longer being new and we've had time to feel our way back into our routines, in the voice of Joey Tribbiani ''how you doing?'' Are your resolutions still intact? One of mine was ... Keep the desk tidy!
So I thought I'd share my workspace ..
So you can be the judge of if I'm keeping to that one ... It doesn't look much and I do have to resist the urge to play with the rise and fall buttons!
3 Things from January:
🧮 Self Assessment ... yep! I may not do them for others but I have to do my own and this year (2023/24 return) I didn't practice what I preach - finally submitted on the 17th 😀 However, I do save into my tax pot monthly so there where no surprises. If one of your goals (resolutions?) for 2025 was to not leave your tax return to the last minute and to be able keep track of your numbers and tax liability as you go - you may be interested in joining me in my new programme (working out the logistics as we speak) - It's the Accountability Accounting Club, designed for freelances, solo small business owners and self employed folks we'll work together in a small cohort so that you feel clear and confident about your Business Numbers.
📺 Watching ... Call The Midwife, yep it's like a little bit of sunshine on a cold wintery evening - it (nearly) always ends on a happy note. If you're a watcher tell can you get through an episode without feeling a tear in the eye (happy or sad ones!)
🥾Walking ... One of my non negotiables for the last 3/4 years since I've been 'work from home' is to get out at least once a day, get the steps in and do a minimum of 2 miles a day. It's been a bit cold and a little wet on some days but it's become my happy place as I usually stroll and listen to a podcast or an audio book. Have any tips for easy listening podcasts / books - don't have to be work related.
Oops.. look at me waffling on you've probably got work to do, so I leave you to your thing.
Thanks reading would love to hear your thoughts on any of the above or if you have any questions about your numbers, drop me an email.
Until next time, Jane
